Stat-based and Free-form Stat-based Is through use of the Pokemon calculator. EVs are NOT included when you calculate. Be sensible about calculated battling and don't try to be petty (for example, your rival Pikachu refusing to use Thundershock on your Squirtle character) and if we see any petty behavior, EXP and/or other rewards will be deducted. For Crit and Miss, you can use a nice RNG site like Random.org. 1 Critical stage can have a 10% chance of dealing a critical attack, and can be stacked just like in the game. Same with Evasion stages. Just leave it to your creativity and don't get too cocky. Statless-based Is through battle creativity that transcends just numbers on paper. While there are no stats to be recorded, you'll need to be creative and sensible in order to get your EXP. We're not talking 1k words a battle, but you have to show your genuine effort. You have to tell a compelling story.

EXP GAINThe formula for EXP gain is simple. You have a 0/5 EXP bar which you need to fill to gain the next level. This means that if you gain 5 EXP while you are level 6, you progress to level 7. THE FORMULAInstead of explaining the formula in lengthy words, let's give you a demonstration. Pretend you're a cute little Bulbasaur, and your opponent is a cute little Charmander. Lv. 007 [0/5 EXP] VS. Lv. 007 [0/5 EXP] - Let's say you win against this charmander. In order to calculate the formula, you divide the loser's level by the winner's level then times 3. So it would look like this. 7 / 7 * 3 = 3 EXP gained But...what if you lose against the charmander? You still gain EXP, of course. Only, instead of multiplying 3, you multiply by *1.5. 7 / 7 * 1.5 = 1.5 EXP gained Multiple BattlesLet's say both Charmander and Squirtle want to battle you. Lv. 007 [0/5 EXP] VS. Lv. 007 [0/5 EXP] Lv. 005 [0/5 EXP] Winning Formula:VS. Charmander: 7 / 7 *3 = 3 EXP gained VS. Squirtle: 5/7*3 = 2.1 EXP gained (always rounded to nearest tenth) Total EXP gained: 5.1. This means Bulbasaur is now Level 8 with [0.1/5 EXP Losing formula:VS. Charmander: 7 / 7 *1.5 = 1.5 EXP gained VS. Squirtle: 5/7 *1.5 = 1.1 EXP gained (always rounded to nearest tenth) Total EXP gained: 2.6 EXP. This means Bulbasaur has gained [2.6/5 EXP] after losing against both pokemon. -- -- Ultimately, the mods will be the ones doing all the math for you, so all you have to do is sit back and relax after you've requested for your battle grading.

PVP Rules First of all, we definitely encourage PVP amongst our players! After all, there is no greater display of power than throwing your weight around, you brute! However, there are a few guidelines you must follow pertaining to PVP battling. [/b] - Whether it's a spawn battle or a PVP battle, you still have to show your effort. Failure to do this will result in EXP deduction. Audino and EXP - While NPC Audino grant you 3x the EXP, this bonus does not apply to a PC Audino, as it is easily exploitable (and poor Audino!). Overleveled VS. Underleveled - Some of you may be tempted to sic your Lv. 07 Pokemon against your friend's Lv. 50 Pokemon, just to gain some sweet EXP. We consider this unsportsmanship-like, as everybody is supposed to build up fairly. For this reason, the maximum EXP you can gain through battling pokemon 11+ levels higher than you is 5 EXP. This only applies to PVP. Lucky eggs do not double this number. ** If your PVP partner is below 10 levels, then the Lucky Egg bonus can apply and there is no EXP limit. That said, if you win easily against your friend and you are below 10 levels, we're going to squint at you. [/ul]

SparringSparring is low-impact and has no winners or losers only training and honing your skills. It's also very essential for readying your hatched offspring for real battles, without the added injury actual battles give you. The FormulaSay your Bulbasaur wants to spar with his friend Squirtle Lv. 007 [0/5 EXP] VS. Lv. 009 [0/5 EXP] - After the spar is finished, both Pokemon will gain EXP. - The formula is your rival's level divided by your level times 1. - 9 / 7 * 1 = 1.3 EXP (rounded up) - This means Bulbasaur gains 1.3 EXP during this session. - ***Remember, the PVP rules still apply to sparring!
